Kirsten RoesinkPhysiotherapy, Spotlight, Virtual Care

Are you looking to continue your rehabilitative treatment while practicing physical distancing and self-isolating?

Good news! pt Health now offers virtual physiotherapy, giving you the opportunity to receive treatment from the comfort of your own home through video conference technology.

Wondering how virtual physiotherapy works? In this Spotlight, we’ll share some first hand information from one of our physiotherapists with you.

Keith Wilson, Clinic Team Manager and Physiotherapist at Corporate Sport Physiotherapy – pt Health has been offering virtual physiotherapy here for the past few weeks.

Today, we’re talking to Keith about his experience with this service so far.

Q: Tell us about the type of treatments you can provide through virtual physiotherapy.

A: Through virtual care I can provide a whole host of treatments because my treatment style consists of movement analysis which is achieved through observation not necessarily focused on manual therapy. I believe any orthopaedic issue is a candidate for virtual care!

Q: What has the patient experience been like with virtual care?

A: So far my virtual care clients have been very happy with the service provided. I make sure to give them a whole host of education behind what I am seeing and how to correct it, exercises to support these theories, and a pdf email of the things we talked about during the session.

Q: Can you share your favourite story of how you helped a patient with virtual care?

A: Right now I am helping a lady rehab from an ACL tear. She is hoping to not go down the surgical path and so far it’s been going very well and quite successful through education and exercise. At her last appointment the surgeon believes that it is looking more and more likely that she will not require surgery.
