Employer Extended Health Plans / Benefits
We direct bill your extended health plan.
Many extended health benefits plans include physiotherapy coverage. Our team is happy to help you navigate your insurance plan coverage. While not necessary, we suggest contacting your plan provider to find out:
- If a doctor’s referral is required in order for treatment to be covered.
- How claims are handled, do they offer direct billing or will you have to complete and submit paperwork.

Motor Vehicle Accident Coverage / ICBC
We direct bill the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) for you.
You are entitled to accident benefits coverage if you have been injured in an motor vehicle accident, regardless of whether you are at fault or not. You do not need a doctor’s referral if the accident happened recently and/or you have not had any previous treatment. Our clinic team will contact your adjustor to find out what coverage you will have. To be eligible for ICBC coverage you must meet certain requirements, for detailed information, please visit http://www.icbcclaiminfo.com/node/47.
No prior approval is needed if you are covered by ICBC and your treatment is under the established limit of 20 visits. However, you will need to report your claim to ICBC, for more information on claiming visit the ICBC website. Be sure to provide our clinic team you’re your ICBC claim number and your adjustor’s name and phone number to begin treatment.
We direct bill the WorkSafeBC (WSBC) for you.
Richmond Physiotherapy is a WorkSafeBC approved physiotherapy provider in the WorkSafeBC Physiotherapy Network (WCB). Our team will guide you through the entire WorkSafe BC (WSBC) claim process. We take care of everything for you, including billing, reporting, care extension approvals, product coverage requests, and communicating with your employer. WSBC coverage is available for both therapy and supplies (like ointments, exercise bands, and heat and ice packs). Products like braces, canes, or other mobility devices may require special approval from WSBC; our team can help request coverage for those items.” While a doctor’s referral is not required to start treatment, you will require a doctor’s medical report to start your WSBC claim.
Blue Cross Billing
We will bill Medavie Blue Cross directly for physiotherapy and massage therapy treatments for members of:
- Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
- Department of National Defense (DND)
- Canadian Forces
- Veterans Affairs
For any treatments partially covered, you will be asked to pay the difference at each visit.

Geordie Yang - Massage Therapist
Geordie graduated the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. He is currently practicing as Registered Massage Therapist between Atlas physio and Richmond physio clinics. He believes in building treatment plans based on a science and research based approach. What he loves most about being an RMT is when he has return patients tell him they’ve had less pain and ailments in their day to day life.
Outside of the clinic Geordie lives a very active lifestyle. You can find him on the mountains, in the summer, biking, and on the ice in the winter coaching hockey.
Chanel Gonzales - Physiotherapy Support Personnel
Chanel graduated from Trinity Western University with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Kinetics. She has had experience as a volunteer in figure skating for Special Olympics B.C, and as a volunteer at Richmond Physiotherapy clinic last Summer. Chanel plans to go back to school and complete a Diploma in Disability Management in the hope’s of further expanding her career. She says that the best part about being a Kinesiologist is having the opportunity to help others as best as she can. On her spare times she loves to bake and enjoys socializing with family & friends.
Michelle Mackay - Massage Therapist
Michelle Mackay graduated in 2005 from West Coast College of Massage Therapy in New Westminster. She has been employed by Broadway Station Wellness from 2005-2012. Michelle Mackay is currently working in Ladner Limberup Physiotherapy as well as Richmond Physiotherapy of the PT Health team. Michelle has been trained in Deep tissue therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, ICBC rehabilitation, Pregnancy massage, trigger point therapy, hot stone therapy as well as osteopath techniques. Michelle`s focused the majority of her practice working with ICBC as well as MSP. Her primary interest is working with ICBC related injuries as well as work related injuries.
Greta Aguirre - Patient Coordinator
Greta became a part of the ptHealth family with an extensive background in customer service ranging from the restaurant industry in Richmond, ESL teacher in her native Mexico and on-board Princess Cruises out in the Caribbean seas. She eagerly joined the Richmond Physiotherapy team and has been enjoying learning every aspect of physical therapy along the way.
Greta became head patient coordinator at Richmond Physio in the summer of 2014 and has played a key role in the patient’s recovery journey alongside the therapists.
Weekends are enjoyed with her boyfriend scouting the next best seafood places in town and church with family on Sundays.

Diana Marshall Matthews - Certified Hand Therapist - OT
Diana attended McMaster University in Ontario and completed her Bachelor of Physical Education in 1991, and her Bachelor of Health Sciences in Occupational Therapy in 1994. She worked in the United States for six years as a traveling therapist doing general occupational therapy before attending Texas Woman’s University in Houston for a hand therapy fellowship in April 1999. She moved to Vancouver in 1999 and started working in Surrey at the Guildford Physiotherapy and Hand Injury Clinic, treating traumatic and post-surgical hand, wrist and elbow injuries from August 1999 to June 2009. Diana wrote and passed her CHT exam in November 1999, and she has been a Certified Hand Therapist ever since. She moved to Sydney, Australia in August 2009 and started working at the North Shore Hand Injury Clinic in St Leonards, a suburb of Sydney, treating hand, wrist and elbow injuries in the pediatric and adult population. She returned to Vancouver in 2014 and started working for PT Health in April, first at their Burnaby location before switching to her current position at the Richmond location. She also works at VGH in a casual position in the outpatient hand therapy department.
Patrice Kong Ting Lun - Physiotherapist
MscPT , FDN
Patrice is a physical therapist and graduated from the University of Alberta in 2010. His passion is for making people better as quickly as possible. His treatment philosophy is based on a mixture of manual
therapy, dry needling (IMS), corrective exercises and taping. Patrice believes that doing the right treatment at the right time is key. To do this properly, a continually investigative approach is needed. Patrice believes that improvements and change within a treatment should be the goal at every session. Nothing makes him more happy than being able to discharge a client successfully.
Andrew Tam - Physiotherapist
Andrew graduated with a Master in Physiotherapy from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he was trained extensively in the Maitland techniques of manual therapy. Before returning to Vancouver, Andrew’s main focus was in treating musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and chronic pain. In addition to being a registered Physiotherapist in Canada and Hong Kong, he is certified in Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) and Functional Dry Needling (FDN). Andrew believes in integrating manual therapy, modalities and therapeutic exercise for effective rehabilitation. Andrew is a member of the Vovinam Martial Arts and Lion Dance Team and regularly trains and performs. With a passion in assisting people with language or cultural barriers, Andrew regularly looks for volunteer opportunities in Vancouver’s Chinatown to help the seniors and community. He also enjoys playing tennis, basketball, and has 15 years of classical violin and piano training
Amy Tu - Physiotherapist
Amy completed her Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the University of British Columbia after obtaining her Bachelors of Science degree with a focus on kinesiology and nutrition. Amy is passionate about helping people return to pain free movement and to discover their physical potential. She believes in an individualized treatment approach using a balance of manual therapy, exercise and education to allow patients to reach their goals and become independent with self-management.
Amy has completed her Level I exam in Manual and Manipulative therapy and is certified in functional movement screening. She is a lifelong learner and intends to pursue her orthopaedic levels and certification for dry needling.
When she’s not at work, you can likely spot her in the gym where she is working on perfecting her barbell and kettlebell techniques!
